Sheet laser cutting

Laser beam machining (also referred to the acronym LBM, Laser Beam Machining) is a thermal process that uses a laser beam as a heat source, as it can be easily concentrated by lenses reaching power densities above 1MW /mm2. When the laser interacts with the material, the energy of the photons is absorbed by the material itself causing a rapid increase in temperature locally leading to melting; the material is removed without mechanical contact but by expulsion through gas such as oxygen, nitrogen or compressed air. Unlike conventional processes, there is no wear and the removal of the material does not depend on its hardness, but on the optical properties of the laser and the thermophysics of the material. This is why it is particularly suitable for working with high thermal resistance alloys and ensures dimensional tolerance within the tenth.

Nuova Inox has heavily invested in this field in recent years, comparing the best technologies and today can offer a cutting service consisting of 2 fibre technology lasers and a co2 that can handle:

  • Sheet cutting up to 4000x2000mm
  • Construction steel (all grades), stainless steel (all grades), aluminium (all alloys), brass, copper, hardox
  • Different thicknesses:
    • Construction steel = 25mm
    • Stainless steel = 25mm
    • Aluminium = 20mm
    • Copper = 10mm
    • Brass = 10mm
  • Marking for piece identification: possibility of air marking to bring the marking to a sort of ink printing (dark and wide marking)
  • Water-cutting cooling function that gives higher quality to processes with a lower thickness than the thickness of the material and eliminates calamine from cuts on the iron.
  • Management function on the quality of the cut along the thickness of the material. It is typical of fibre technology laser cuts to have a micro-sliced cut along the thickness, but thanks to the latest installed system we can overcome this dynamic.
  • Automation integrated to the machine able to guarantee continuous work cycles without the aid of the operator.
Tube laser cutting

The tube laser cutting technology is nothing more than the combination of the automation of various technologies designed to create a machine capable of handling laser cutting of circular, square, open or special profiles; the material is removed by laser beam, the motion control of the axes is managed by a CNC numerical control, the pneumatic / electric / hydraulic automation part is managed by PLC and the programming is done through 3D modelling and CAD / CAM processing setting.

From a mechanical point of view the structure is made with an iter equal to the realization of a machine tool. Potentially the equipment is able to handle tolerances within the tenth and Nuova Inox today manages:

  • Maximum loadable profile length = 6.5m
  • Maximum finished piece length = 6m
  • Flow rate = 40kg / mt
  • Cut up to 45°
  • Automatic marking of the pieces imported directly from the 3D models
  • Manageable thicknesses:
    • Iron = 12 mm
    • Stainless steel = 8mm
    • Aluminium = 7mm
    • Copper = 5mm
    • Brass = 8mm
  • Manageable sections:
    • Round = from 12mm to 240mm
    • Square = from 12×12 to 200×200
    • Rectangular = from 30×20 to 200×50
    • Hea profiles = 100 – 120 – 140 – 160 – 180
    • HeB profiles = 100 – 120 – 140
    • IPE profiles = 80 – 100 – 120 – 140 – 160 – 180
    • Windows/doors profile = 1A – 1B – 1C
    • Plate = from 40×5 to 200×12
    • Section L – C – U = from 30×20 to 200×200
    • Oval sections = with circumscribed diagonal dimensions in a diameter of 240mm
    • Any type of non-commercial section that can be managed by taking the spindles (after feasibility analysis)

Tube internal cleaning management. Through an active catcher we can protect the internal part of the profile thanks to the enabling of the instrument which manages the beam deposited inside the profile avoiding the contamination of it. (Valid only on 2D processing, valid only with round geometry profiles from 30mm to 240mm).

Punching

The punching of the sheet is the act of imprinting a sign, or a shape, on a surface by the pressure or the percussion of an instrument called punch.

Potentially the equipment is able to handle tolerances within the tenth and Nuova Inox today manages:

  • Sheet punching up to 3000 × 1250
  • Punching up to 2.5mm
  • Treatable materials, construction steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, bronze
Sheet bending

Bending is a mechanical process with which an object is deformed by applying forces on it.

It is used to obtain certain shapes, but also to achieve a stiffening of the structure. In the industrial field it is obtained through a special machine called bending machine.

Potentially the equipment is able to handle decimal tolerances and Nuova Inox today manages:

  • Folding length = 4420mm with a free passage upright of 3680mm and automatic lifting by adapters
  • Useful height of space = 615mm
  • Reach = 420mm
  • Pressure force = 3200KN, 320tons
Assembly

The assembly of manufactured items is the production cycle phase during which the components, after the engineering and the realization, are joined as per project specifications; the assembly of the parts can be done by welding, mechanical assembly or mechanical interlocking.

Nuova Inox is able to manage the creation of products both with welding and assembly methods; logistically there are two distinct areas:

  • One dedicated to welding assembly, where operators perform manual grinding and welding tasks using technology, “tig”, “mag” and “mig”.
  • One dedicated to the mechanical assembly, where the operators carry out the assembly of the components.
Aesthetic finish

The aesthetic finishing cycle involves an additional processing to the surface of the raw materials; it consists in subjecting the parts obtained from laser cutting to a scrubbing treatment using abrasive brushes. The level of finishing may depend on many factors: the degree of grain of the blades that make up the brush, the pressure exerted at the time of the operation, the speed with which the brush rotates at the time of contact with the material and the direction in which the body brush moves with respect to the material.

Nuova Inox manages the service in 2 macro categories:

  • Individual parts, through automatic devices with a range of 1380 x H 150mm
  • Assembled parts, by manual processing. The operators carry out the finishing work through special brushes and equipment able to handle the narrowest geometries.
